Class 4 Autumn 2012
Shakespeare

William Shakespeare is the second most-quoted writer in the English language He wrote 38 plays and 156 sonnets. He had a theatre called the Globe, which was burned down in 1613 and he had three children called Hamnet, Susanna and Judith.
We are going to be performing at Theatre Severn in the Walker Theatre on the 16th of October a play called Macbeth, it is one of Shakepeare most famous plays. We are rehearsing for the performance nearly everyday, which is really good fun! Went on a trip to Theatre Severn last week and got to act on the stage to see how it would feel. We also saw another school perform a play called Romeo and Juliet. For the last hour we played fun games to work on voice projection and movement on stage. One of them was called 'In the Pond and Out the Pond'
We are really excited about the performance and hope lots of people come along to support us on the 16th of October!

Class 4 went to Shrewsbury Abbey yesterday (4th October) where they learnt all about monks and the role of the Abbey today. The Abbey had beautiful stained glass windows and the ceiling was really high. There has been an Abbey there since just after 1066.
There were lots of different workshops we could do. There was calligraphy, banner making, maths models, creative models, mosaics, music and much more.
Monks looked after other people, prayed and worshipped God. They were the only people who could read and write and so they had to draw pictures.
It was great to meet up with children from other schools and we shared stories, prayers and songs with them. We also had a tour of the Abbey.
We had a really interesting and exciting day!
