Class 1 - Spring Term 2018
Our week in class 1
This week we have been using our fine motor skills to mix and make clay in forest school. We used our hands to Mold and shape the clay into 'tree' sculptures.
We used twigs and sticks to add detail. We had to concentrate hard to chi eve the effect we wanted.
We all made something unique and they are displayed around forest school for everyone to see.
Our week in class 1
This week we took part in an archery workshop. We had to load the arrow on the bow, pull back the string, aim the arrow at the target and launch the arrow.
We worked together in teams to record our scores and add them up to see which group scored the most.
It took a bit of practice but we didn't give up and we all agreed it was fun to learn a new skill.
Our week in class 1 26.1.18
This week we were very excited to learn about animals from a vet. Mrs Jones came into our class and brought lots of items for us to investigate and learn from.
We had thought of and written some questions to ask Mrs Jones. She very kindly answered them and we learnt a lot. Thank you.
Our week in class 1. 21.1.18
This week we have been using the school library to research winter in other countries. We looked through the books to find information about the country we wanted to find out about.
We took the books back to the classroom and wrote about the different countries. We also used the Internet to get more information and pictures.
Our week in class 1
This week we wanted to go for a winter walk. First we had to find the correct clothes to wear to keep us warm!
When we were wrapped up warm we went walking and observing thinking of as many words as we could to describe what we saw.....
....grey, windy clouds.....dark, spiky, skeleton trees.....muddy, squashed leaves melting in the ground.... Glittery, sparkly leaves, they look like they have been covered in sugar!
Tortoises visit class 1
As part of our science topic on animals, one of our children brought in their tortoises to show us. We found out what they needed to live and survive and how we need to look after them.
Forest school in class 1
We have been creating trees in forest school using branches, logs and twigs. We decorated them with fruit and leaves.
We worked together to find just the right size stick, searching the area and snapping them if we needed to make them shorter.
Our week in class 1
This week we have been investigating our new topic of winter. We've made symmetrical snowflakes. We had to carefully fold our paper into half then quarters. Next we cut out different shapes and then unfolded the paper, hey presto, a snowflake! We found out everyone's was different just like real snowflakes.
Some of us worked together to make a really large one.
Some made icicles, all different sizes and colours.
We also used the watercolour paints to do some observational paintings of winter trees.
