This week in class 1. 26.4.16
This week we have been learning about Brazil. We used globes, atlases, books and the Internet to collect information about the country. We were particularly interested in the rainforest and looked for more information about the animals that live there.
We found out that the snakes that lived in the rainforest had patterns on their skins and started to make our own to go in the role play area.
We also learned that all the beautiful butterflies had symmetrical patterns on them and created our own.
We also read a story about how some people are chopping down the trees of the rainforest and how the animals are trying to stop them. We acted out the story using props we had made and collected together.
This week in class 1. 18.4.16
This week week we celebrated the Queen's 90th birthday.
We worked together to build a palace and collected all the things we thought a queen would need.
We worked together to build a palace and collected all the things we thought a queen would need.
We had guards to protect her, set up a kitchen for the chef to prepare food for her and had lots of princesses and princes to look after her.
We also made crowns, thinking about the different shapes and patterns we could use.
We designed our crowns carefully and then chose the different materials and equipment we would need to make them. We had to keep looking at our designs to make sure we selected the right shapes and colours to create our birthday crowns.
We were very proud of our individual crowns and paraded around the school to celebrate the Queen's birthday.
This week in class one. 12.4.16
This week we had a visitor from the Dogs Trust. We learnt how dogs use their senses just like us. We watched how Bertie found a treat in the box by using his sense of smell and then we used our sense of touch to stroke the dog, he was very friendly.
We also had some visitors from the church. We learnt about the story of Jericho from the bible and joined in with acting out the different parts of the story. We learnt how the people put their trust in God and brought down the walls of Jericho to enter the town.
