Class 1 - Summer Term 2017
Our Visit To Tesco's
As we are coming to the end of our farming topic, we visited Tesco's to see where all the produce the farmers grow gets sold. We put on special aprons and then set off around the store to spot fruit, vegetables, dairy produce and all the other types of food that farmers grow.
We went behind the scenes and went into the freezer and chiller to see where the food is kept fresh.
We also got the chance to meet the fishmonger and he showed us how to prepare a fish to eat.
Finally we got to taste different types of cheese. We didn't like all of them but cheddar was our favourite! Thanks to Tesco's for letting us explore their store.
Our week in class 1
This week we have been creating our own music and instruments. We found lots of ways to make different sounds at forest school. We worked together to form our own outside band.
When we got back into the classroom we got the instruments out and worked in groups to perform our own compositions.
Our week in class 1
As part of our farming topic this week, we had a visit a visit from some calves. They were 5 days old but are already standing and walking. They are still just drinking milk but will grow quickly and soon be eating special nuts. Thank you to Mrs Randle for bringing them into school, we learnt a lot.
Our week in class 1
This week Mr Ford came for another visit. This time he brought a tractor to look at as part of our farming topic. We had lots of questions to ask and were able to have a close look at all the different parts.
Thank you to Mr Ford for a real hands on experience!
Our week in class 1
Over the last two weeks we have been lucky enough to experience, first hand, quail chicks and hens. Thank you to Mr Ford who brought in week old chicks. He taught us how to handle them carefully and safely. Hopefully we might be able to see them when they are fully grown.
They were really soft and made a quiet cheeping noise, we all thought they were really cute
Thank you also to Mr Jarvis who brought two laying hens to show us. We looked after them for three days in the hope they would lay some eggs. We asked lots of questions so we knew how to look after them and keep them safe. We found out that they would need food, water, hay and somewhere secure for them to be overnight. They laid 5 eggs during their visit so I think we must have done a good job!
We then decided we wanted to make our own chicks and chickens. We all had our own ideas and collected the materials we needed.
Our week in class 1
This week we worked in teams to set up obstacle courses to practice our scooter skills. We used cones and markings to direct the way.
We guided each other through the courses and tried to keep to the directions.
This week in class 1
This week we went to visit Shrewsbury museum. We found some very interest and old things.
We also followed the footprints around the museum to find the different rhymes.
There was also a lot of fun activities to do.
Finally we listened to a story teller. She told us about a woolly mammoth and lots of animals in a box! It was a very busy day but lots of fun.
