Class 2 Autumn Term 2016
Advent Wreath
Look, I've managed to draw around my hand and cut it out for our special Advent Wreath!
We were proud of what we had created together. Every hand was important as it represented each of us. Just like a follower of Jesus as we get ready for his Coming.
Careful cutting. Well done! We knew this was an important activity.

Here we are making the Christingles.
We support and help each other at St. Lucia's School.
Making Christingles for the church service in December 2016.
We learned about the important meanings for each part of the Christingle.

Science - Hard Materials
We investigated which of the balls would bounce the highest linked to the material they were made from.
Maths skills were useful to measure the height of the bounce in metres and centimetres.

Music and Science
Year 2 have been learning how to play the tune 'Row Your Boat' using the xylophones. They are developing their composing skills well and performed the tune in our celebration assembly!

Haughmond Hill Visit
We visited Haughmond Hill as part of our topic learning about the local area.
We reflected and thought about our favourite memory from the day and recorded them on this spider's web which we all helped to make.

Awe and wonder at the beautiful surroundings in Haughmond Hill. We looked closely at how different each tree trunk was and thought about how we are all different as people. We them chose a tree each to pause for reflection. What it thin, tall, smooth, straight-we explored it closely.
Admiring the beautiful landscape which God created. How lucky we are to have this on our school doorstep!
School Nurses
Class 2 had a visit from the school nurses to teach us how to keep our teeth healthy. This linked to our science learning about different good groups and nutrition.
Science
As part of our keeping healthy science topic we have been investigating lots of things through practical learning.
One of our investigation questions was linked to our height.
Do taller children jump the furthest?

Science- Keeping Healthy
Our science topic this half term has been Keeping Healthy.
We combined nutrition, maths and food technology learning to design and make our own fruit kebabs.
After washing our hands and using the knives carefully we arranged a repeated design pattern using our three fruit choices.
