Class 2 Spring Term 2017
Mother's Day Lunch
Thank you to all the Mums and Grandmas who joined us for a Mother's Day lunch.
Comic Relief Fund Raising Day
Everyone dressed in their own clothesline and wore their red noses to raise money for Comic Relief. We also had a cake sale at the end of the school day. Thank you for everyone's support.
World Book Day
Class 2 enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book characters for World Book Day. We designed our own book covers and took part in partner reading and hit seating activities.
Thank you Harry Potter and Minion for visiting us today!

Science
We have been finding out how light can be reflected through practical investigations.
Can you see your partner's reflection in the mirror?

Great teamwork everyone!
Computing - Year 2 Programming Skills Scratch
This term we have been developing our programming skills on the computers using Scratch.
We explored how to make the character/Sprite move and choose different backgrounds. We also learned how to add speech bubbles, create new sprites and include our own designs using Paint.

Science-Light Investigations
This week Year 2 brought their own torches into school to help explore the brightness of lights.
Christian Distinctiveness
Class 2 make good use of their quiet area for Reflection. Different children are chosen to read the prayers they have written during our collective worship times through each week.
Science - Light
We worked in small groups this week to plan investigations together.
What was our scientific investigation question going to be?
Which of the light sources was the brightest?
Once we tested each light, we recorded our results together.
Some groups guessed the brightest light source, other groups were surprised by their results. Good scientific enquiry and thinking Year 2!

Maths and Computing
As part of our maths work this week, we have been using mathematical vocabulary for position and direction.
After reading the story of Katie Morag Delivers the Mail, we planned our own routes around the Isle of Struay.
Right, left, forwards, backwards, quarter turns, half turns and three quarters turns were all explored practically. Once we had recorded our planned routes, we programmed the beebots to create algorithms. Great partner work everyone!
