Science Growth
This week Class 2 have placed Japanese quail eggs into the incubator. We will watch the progress of their development over the next few weeks and keep you updated!
The children have been keeping up to date with the most recent links to space through Tim Peake’s Cosmic Classroom which included a live question and answer sessions with children from the UK.
Computing- programming beebots to use algorithms
We worked in groups to list commands using the beebots. This helped us to create algorithms. Then we followed the commands of each group to test out the different routes around the classroom and school everyone had created.

English-Verb posters
As part of our English, we have been exploring the use of different verbs in our writing and speech. We created these group posters linked to our current topic of animals to record our ideas.
Animals
As part of our science, we have been finding out about different common pets. We used non fiction books and the Internet to help us. Each group made their own poster which we presented to the class.
Maths - Multiplication
As part of our ongoing practise in number, we have been recognising different patterns of multiplication around us. We thought about the ways we could record these using the practical things within our school environment.
French
Class 2 have been learning some conversational French! We can say our own names, recognise different foods and drinks. These are some group posters of French farms with labelled animals we designed.
Alphabetical Order and Computing
After listing different animals in alphabetical order, we practised our computing skills by learning to find, copy and paste pictures of animals from the internet. We considered carefully which letters come next in the alphabet without always starting with 'a' at the beginning.
We self assessed our work linked to our developing computing skills for this term.

Commands Linked to Art
Look how carefully the Year 2 children created their own portraits! We linked commands in English to draw these wonderful pictures.
