CLASS 3 AUTUMN TERM 2017
Attingham November 2017
Secret Hills Discovery Centre
St. Lucia's Church
We were lucky enough to be invited to St Lucia's Church to learn about the work of the two conservators Lisa and Stephen. It is their job to uncover Victorian paintings in the church which were painted over in the 1950s. The pictures are now emerging due to the cold and damp and are absolutely fascinating. We were also shown the stained glass window of St Lucia by Mrs Woods and Mrs Carding. Thank you to all involved for giving us the opportunity to see the paintings and the ongoing work in the church.
Art - Investigating Colour And Texture
These skills will help with the cave paintings we will be producing as part of our Stone Age topic.
Stone Age Colours
In Class 3 we have been making our own colours from a variety of natural materials. These included a variety of berries, grass, beetroot and carrots. This is part of our topic on the Stone Age and cave painting. We applied the 'paints' with moss, twigs, fingers and feathers. It was great fun.
Ukulele lessons have started again. Year 4 shared their expertise with the Year 3 children. Here they are hard at work.
Science - Investigating Forces
In Class 3 we have been investigating how many ways we can make a piece of paper move.
We set up a number of investigations to explore friction. This also linked to measurement work in maths.
