Class 4 Summer Term 2016
P.E.
Class 4 have been choreographing their own routines to the James Bond theme this half term. It was a pleasure to watch the final performances, which combined teamwork and trust, with dance and gymnastic skills.
Each group brought original ideas to the task, working hard to improve and refine their performance. They should feel proud of their achievements.

Football Training Sessions
We would like to thank Mr. Powis for the football training sessions this half term. A squad of 10 players represented St. Lucia's at Belvidere football festival this week. Thanks to Mrs. Broome and Mr. Powis for accompanying them, and braving the cold! It was great to hear that they showed good sportsmanship throughout, and achieved some fantastic results. Some reports written by the squad will appear shortly.
Mike The Mouse's Dream Cheese Game
One of the Year 6 children has designed a game which can be played on the internet. Click the link button to have a go. Good Luck!
Design and Technology
As part of our design and technology work, we have been following instructions to carry out a focused practical task. This activity linked with our science work on forces.
3D Shape
Following our work on 3D shape, class 4 rose to the challenge. They made chains and loops using eight polyhedra.
Here is one example created using the 3D shapes and linking them by the shape of their faces.
We discovered that you could start with different polyhedra and create chains and loops. Other ideas suggested by class 4 were also investigated. Eg how long a chain could be made with equal numbers of edges or vertices? Could a loop be made if an octahedron and tetrahedron were added?

Detective Mind Maps
Detective Work
What is it?
How might it have been used?
What materials is it made from?
Is it natural or manmade?
Which adjectives can we use to describe it clearly?
What historical period do we think it's from?
Who might have used it?
We examined a selection of artefacts carefully and recorded our ideas in mind maps.

Darwin
We made careful observational drawings of some of the objects, looking closely at detail and proportion.
