French Picnic
Class 4 enjoyed a picnic this week. They ordered their 'sandwich' with a range of fillings from the cafe owners to practice their vocabulary and pronunciation. Drinks were also available from the bar!
French Breakfast - Petit Dejeuner
During today's French lesson, class 4 enjoyed a 'petit dejeuner' including croissants, chocolat chaud and pain au chocolat. They made their own pain au chocolat, and enjoyed the opportunity to share conversation and some delicious breakfast treats.
Many thanks to Madame Morecroft for organising this experience, to Mrs. Broome for her help in preparing the work area, and for the parental donations which enabled all the children to take part.

Maths Investigation
Class 4 working on a problem solving activity.
10 plants needed to be shared between 3 children. However, the challenge was made more difficult as 1 child needed 5 plants, the second 6, and the third child required 7.
How can this problem be solved if that is a total of eighteen plants altogether?
......Venn diagrams, practical apparatus, logical thinking and careful recording were all necessary.
There were many different solutions, and it could be solved with just 7 plants!

Design Technology Challenge
After a busy SATs week, class 4 have combined a range of skills in the Design Technology challenge. Following research, a range of international bridges were constructed.
Having explored ways to make strong and stable structures, the children selected a bridge they would like to build. Plans were made, and great care was taken to try to create scale models. This showed us how long many of the spans were when compared with deck width. It also made it much more difficult to make bridges which were strong and stable!
The children used a wide range of skills. Maths, communication, patience and perseverance were crucial to create finished products which resembled the actual bridges. It was a great opportunity for sharing skills and supporting each other. It was also good to see different children taking on the taking on the role of group leader to provide direction and try to ensure the building deadline was met!
Great job class 4....
....and no paint or glue on the new carpet either!

Design technology at Belvidere
Class 4 have really enjoyed their Design Technology at Belvidere School.
It was a great opportunity to use a range of woodwork tools and get a 'feel' for secondary school.
Many thanks to Mrs. Broome for accompanying the children, and to Belvidere for offering the experience to the whole class, and providing a minibus to chauffeur us backwards and forwards!
