Open the book 13th September 2017
Today we listened to the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand. We thought about people in the world who don't have enough to eat because of the recent floods and storms.
Open the book Wednesday 12th July
The story this month was The Storm on the Lake.
We thought about things that worry us or make us feel afraid after listening to the story of how the friends of Jesus grew afraid after there was a storm on the lake. Jesus calmed them and told them not to be frightened.
The ladies from Open the Book were presented with cards made by some of the children to thank them for all their hard work. A BIG thank you from all of us at St Lucia's.

Wednesday 8th February - The boy in the Temple
The Open the Book story this morning was The boy in the Temple. Jesus was 12 years old and got lost. Mary and Joseph were extremely worried because they loved him deeply. Eventually they found him in the temple.
We thought about those children in the world who don't have anyone to care for them.

The Epiphany
Children from all of the classes helped to tell the story of the epiphany.
The story from Open the Book today was about King Solomon.
David grew up to be a wise King. His son was Solomon and when he became King the first thing he did was pray to God and he ask for wisdom.
One day two women were fighting over a baby. Solomon asked one of the soldiers to cut the baby in half. He found out who the real mother was because she would rather give up her child than have it cut in half. King Solomon showed himself to be very wise.
We thought about all the people who need to be wise today, including ourselves.

14th September 2016
We listened to the story of David and Goliath
We talked about the boy and the giant man and how it shows that people can overcome big problems.
We reflected on problems that we might have.

16th March 2016
The Open the Book story today was all about what happened after Moses led his people to freedom. Unfortunately the people were not happy even when they were free.
The people moaned so Moses prayed to God and God answered. By day God led the people with a thick white cloud and by night a flaming torch. Then God made some rules for the people.
When they reached the promised land the people were happy.
We thought about who provides food in our homes and we also remembered those people that don't have enough to eat.

10th February 2016
We listened to the story of Moses and the ten plagues of Egypt.
We thought about people in the world who are being treated badly today just as Moses and his people were treated badly by the Pharaoh of Egypt.

11th January 2016
The story today was about Moses as a baby. We thought about how God helps us with our plans. We reflected on the plans we have for ourselves, as God had a special plan for Moses.

Each month our friends from St Lucia's Church and Lichfield Deanery visit school to lead a whole school assembly called Open the Book. A bible story is shared through drama. This month in September the story was about Abraham.
Diane Woolridge and her helpers from Wrockwardine Deanery came into school for their third Open the Book visit. Once again they shared a Bible story through drama activities. This week we listened to Noah's Ark and some children took part in the drama.
