We have received some exciting news from the Parish Council! On Tuesday 6th March (between 5.30pm/6.00pm approx.) Zoe Ball will be stopping in Upton Magna Village as part of a Sport Relief Bike Ride Challenge! Zoe is expected to leave for the next stage of her cycle route on Wednesday 7th March (from 6.30am /7.00am). The BBC will be filming Zoe’s incredible journey. Please try and support if you can.
We will be celebrating World Book Day on Friday 2nd March (rather than Thursday due to the key stage 2 swimming). All children are invited to come to school dressed as a book character. There will be a range of additional reading activities within each class. A book token has been sent home today with your child. This can be exchanged for a free book, or redeemed for £1 off other books. The promotion runs from today until the 25th March 2018.
This year we are providing a wider range of new sporting experiences for all children to raise the profile of sport and P.E. in school. Tomorrow, all classes will be taking part in a series of archery workshops. Key stage 2 children will also have the opportunity to participate in an intra-school competition in the afternoon. We are still encouraging the children to use the BBC Sport Super Movers activities to support the 30:30. It is recommended that children complete one hour of exercise a day. School are helping to with this by providing at least half an hour of daily exercise. Please see the link on our school website www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/supermovers. The ‘Getting Active at Home’ section is useful!
Children in Class 1 and 2 enjoyed a fantastic trip to the SnowDome in Tamworth yesterday. There were opportunities to try out snow slides, sledges and play in real snow! We also watched some ice skating, skiing and snowboarding which linked perfectly to the current Winter Olympics! The trip supported our current topic of Narnia, Winter and Imaginary Worlds providing fun, engaging and memorable experiences for the children.
