We have been learning all about how fossils are formed. We found out that fossils only form in sedimentary rocks and take millions and millions of years to form. We learnt about chemical fossils and fossil fuels and other types of fossils – trace and body fossils. We then had a go at making models of our own out of playdough. We first created whole body fossils based on ancient ammonites, using a ruler to make the patterns. After we pressed items into the dough to make replicas of mould fossils.
