Safer Schools

In 2010, St Lucia’s CE Primary School became an accredited ‘Safer School’.  This is a risk management approach to school security, created by West Mercia Police and supported by Shropshire Council.

Twelve years after the school’s accreditation, I recently attended a Safer School meeting at the school with Mrs Woolley and a governor. This meeting included reviewing any incidents/issues at the school, ensuring the essential security/safety measures are active and finally, considering any potential improvements. Involving pupils and parents/carers is an important factor of Safer Schools and the school ensures this involvement through surveys and newsletter items.

The meeting was a success, covering all aspects of the initiative and Mrs Woolley was presented with an updated Safer School certificate.

A future review meeting will be planned for Autumn 2023. Congratulations!
