As part of our Design Technology unit in Textiles this term, Birch class will be creating Egyptian collars. After our initial discussions and designs were complete we practised the necessary skills we will need for the project. This week we undertook a lesson in tying knots, threading a needle and then moving on to stitching. We tried running and cross stitch and then practised these by trying some applique with felt. We tried basic applique and reverse applique which involves sewing on the back then cutting a hole in the front fabric to reveal a contrasting colour. These skills will definitely help us create fantastic collars!
