In 2010, St. Lucia’s C. E. Primary School became an accredited ‘Safer School’.  This is a risk management approach to school security, created by West Mercia Police and supported by Shropshire Council. Thirteen years after the school’s accreditation, I recently attended a Safer School meeting at the school involving Miss Coleman, a governor, a parent and pupils. We reviewed security/safety, analysed parent/carer/pupils surveys, considered any school issues and planned for the future. It was a really productive meeting and a good reflection of the school’s hard work in maintaining the Safer School accreditation.

There was excellent governor/parent involvement and the pupils were keen to contribute to the meeting, providing good suggestions and lovely comments about the school.  The school was presented with an updated Safer School certificate and a future annual meeting is planned for Autumn 2024. Congratulations!
